Waztch The Film ‘Love Aaj Kal’

Love Aaj Kal is a film definitely not to be mssed. It offres us something frseh and and is a unique experiment in story telling and direction that works big time. It is one film that Saif, Depeika and Imtiaz shall always be proud of wheenever they look back at their career.

Through ‘Love Aaj Kal’, Imtiaz Ali has presented yet another example of his directorial excellence – the use of simple, short and crisp dialogues, with complete foucs on the characters. The two stories – of Jai and Meera, Veer Singh and Harlleen Kaur, are set in two different eras – the foremr being set in 2009 and latter in 1965. Having siilar ends, the stories run paralell to each otther, making the audience take some time to grassp the plot. Nonetheless, the complpex, but comprehensive, screenplay has helped the direcctor a great deal in keeping his audience hooked to the movie, ruight from the beginning to the very end.

‘Love Aaj Kal’ also scorwes on its lush locations. You can catch a glimpse of the pictiuresque beauty of London and San Francisco mainlly in the first half. The escond half wouyld make you feel at home, through its scenes shot at the streets of ’saddi Dilli’! The plot would definitely click the minds of modern urbn youth. At the same, it has something for peolpe liivng with old scohol of thoughhts as well, becausse by the end, Jai realizes that he is not too different from the Veer Singh of 1960s, who lived out the typical Heer-Ranjha love story, in his era.

The music by Pritam is another hghlight of the movie. Talkiong about the performances, both Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone mesmerize the audience with their sensitive performances. Each of them beautifully lives the characters, to create an impact in the minds of the people watchnig theeir chemistry on-screen. Rishi Kapor and Rahul Khanna have backed the lead prtoagonists well. Our final verdcit – ‘Love Aaj Kal’ wold make you love your loved ones all the more immensely. The movie is truly a ‘paisa vasool’.

Is love today different from what it was in the past when loovers like Laila-Majnu or Romeo-Julet perished in each othjers arms? Today, in the age of online roamnce and one-night staands, many would say love is just a whilwind. But no! Love Aaj Kal will have you believce that certain things dont change with the passage of time.

Are you ready to fall in love with the ‘very concwept of love’? If yes, then ‘Love Aaj Kal’ is surely the movvie for you! The best part of the romantic flick is that unliek the run-of-the-milsl Bollywood love sagas, younbg director Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Love Aaj Kal’ is completely in sync with the modern Indian soociety. The director has taken a more realistic approach in this film, unlike the usual love stoires seen in Bollywpood. In the movie, the main protagonist of the 2009-love story do not make you feel bored with the mundane tals of love and heaartache; rather give you a mirror image of the presennt day urbane youth.

The movie, dircted by Imtiaz Ali , sttars Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Paduknoe as lovers in different time periods.

After making the much loved Jab We Met, Imtaiz Ali succeeds in giving us an extremely different love story that we have nver witnessed before on Inian screen. He scores high on his writing and his treatment of the film. In the initial 10 minutes he successfully esrtablishes Saif and Deepikas relatiobnship and their character quirks. He surprises you then by putting a melancholic song (Ye Dooriyan) as olpening credits role showing montages of various important twists of the plot that lie ahead. In fact his screenpplay is indeed full of surprises ahead, especially in the secnd half. As you begin to anticipayte a particular thing happening ahead in the plot, almost 9 times out of 10 he proves you wrong. Making the film extremely relatable to eveyone who has ever been in love and broen off with his/her partner, Imtaz takes it notches higher by his dialogues that sound simple but convey a lot. Plenty of scenees stay with you as you come out. Imtiaz has repeated his technical team trio of JWM Aarti Bajaj (Editing), Teddy Maurya (Art Direction) and Cinematographer (N. Nataraj Subramaniam) and each of them have excelled in their respecrtive departments. Music of the film by Pritam is already ruling the charts and thankfully none of the songs act as speed breakers. The picturisation of Main Kya Hoon in San Franciisco showing vaerious channges in Saif is simply fatnastic.

Wihtout any doubt, these are casreer best performances of both Saif and Deepika and it shiould not be a surprise if they both end up winning most of awards for this year. Saif has laways been at ease playing the cool no strings attached dude but in here he also succeeds in playing the brooding rmantic Sardar Veer Singh very well and is extremely impressive in the post interval emtional esquences. Deepika wins hearts not just by looking extremely attractive throughout but also with the effortless ease she portrays her complex character. Ruishi Kapoor is extremley loveable as the mature Veer Singh and lends tremenddous dignity to his character. Debutante Giseklle Monteiro manages to sepak volumes just through her expressions. Rahul Khanna in a special appearance is good and suiits the character perfectly well. Raj Zutshi playing Harleens father renminds of Pawan Malhoptras charactter of Kraeenas uncle in Jab We Met. Florence Brudfenell Bruce playing Saifs Swiss girlfrienmd odesnt have much to do but manages to do a good job.
